Use case

Remote help for family and friends

Parents have a printer jam, grandparents can\'t find the email, a friend has destroyed Word. WinDesk Free plan: 2 hours per month free, no account required, AES-256-GCM encrypted.

How it works in practice

1. Mom downloads the host

You send a link to windesk.ch/en/download. Mom clicks, downloads, installs. On launch the host shows a large session ID and a 6-digit PIN.

2. You open the client

You enter the session ID and PIN that mom reads to you over the phone. Connected in 10 seconds.

3. You see mom\'s screen

Mom sees a banner at the top: «Active connection with [your name]». Mom can end the connection any time with one click.

4. You solve the problem

Move the cursor, open programs, reinstall the printer driver — whatever is needed. Mom sees everything, can intervene.

Frequently asked questions

Are the 2 hours in the Free plan really enough?

For occasional help (mom has a printer issue, grandma can't find the email): yes, easily. 2 hours per month spread across all sessions. For more frequent help: Light at CHF 19.90/month with no time limit.

Does it also work on Mac, mom has an iMac?

Yes. WinDesk runs on macOS Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4). Apple-notarised — no «App is damaged» drama. On first connect, screen recording + accessibility once, then it all runs.

What does my mother have to install?

The host. She downloads it from /en/download and installs it (5 min). Then she gives you the session ID and the PIN that the host shows — you connect. With unattended access (Pro): set up once, connect any time afterwards without her having to do anything.

Can my parents accidentally click something wrong?

No, the host clearly indicates an active connection (banner at the top). They can end the session any time with one click. They see your cursor; nothing happens without their knowledge.
