Migration

From TeamViewer to WinDesk — in 6 steps

You're switching to WinDesk for Swiss hosting, clear pricing or cross-platform incl. Linux + Pi. The migration is well-planned: 4–6 weeks parallel operation, concierge onboarding optional, cutover over a weekend.

Step by step

01

Create account

Open a Pro account at app.windesk.ch/register. 14 days free without a credit card. Set up MFA on first login.

02

Export device list

In TeamViewer Management Console «Devices» → CSV export. We import that during concierge onboarding (CHF 490) including groups.

03

Install host in parallel

Install the WinDesk Host alongside the TeamViewer host — they don't interfere. Cross-platform: Windows EV-signed, macOS Apple-notarised, Linux .deb/.rpm, Pi arm64.

04

Test phase

4–6 weeks of parallel operation. Customers receive both tools, you test WinDesk for reliability + feature parity for your use cases.

05

Cutover

Cancel TeamViewer licenses, uninstall the host software on customer devices (or leave it if the customer wishes). The WinDesk audit trail takes over seamlessly.

06

Train your team

Concierge onboarding includes 2 × 90 min live training: usage, roles, webhooks. Afterwards email support within 4h.

Concierge onboarding

We take the technical setup off your hands: device import, group configuration, team training. One-time CHF 490, included in Pro from sprint 1.

Frequently asked questions

How long does migration typically take?

For an MSP with 50 customers and 200 devices: 4–6 weeks of parallel operation, then cutover over a weekend. Concierge onboarding (CHF 490) shortens the preparation phase to 1 week.

What happens to TeamViewer session logs?

You export those from the TeamViewer Management Console as CSV/PDF and archive them. WinDesk starts at cutover with its own audit trail. If you need old logs searchable, that's a compliance topic clarified in the concierge call.

Can we run both in parallel?

Yes, technically no problem. Both hosts can be installed on the same device. A cutover is cleaner, but unlimited parallel operation is possible. Some customers leave TeamViewer on special hosts (e.g. mainframe gateways) where WinDesk hasn't been validated yet.

What about TeamViewer Tensor (Enterprise)?

WinDesk currently has no direct Tensor equivalent with all enterprise features (e.g. asset management). For pure remote-support workflows WinDesk Pro is sufficient; for asset management keep your existing stack (e.g. NinjaOne, Datto).
